A writer’s mind seems to be situated partly in the solar plexus and partly in the head.

Ethel Wilson (1888-1980)

Chip off the old block —

Established in 2026, BCR Press owes its existence — and part of its name — to The British Columbia Review, the “lively and inclusive Vancouver-based online journal devoted to the literature, arts, culture, and society of British Columbia” that launched in 2016.

Inspired by the site’s mandate to “review books by BC-based writers wherever they choose to publish them” and aligned with its vision, BCR Press aims to focus on the immense vitality and diversity of British Columbian writers and honour their creativity by publishing books, their labours of love.
Located on Salt Spring Island, part of Coast Salish terrain for millennia, the independent press operates respectfully and in view of tall cedars and firs.

Horse before the cart —

The paramount goal of BCR Press is to realize its mandate, initially via by outreach and communication with prospective authors.

We encourage authors to check out our submission guidelines for further information.
